Arunachala as been associated with fire and light since ancient times. To celebrate this year’s summer solstice (on June 20 or 21, depending on where you live), here are some photos of Arunachala taken at dawn on June 20, 2009. The view of Arunachala is from my house, looking east at Arunachala. Parvati Hill is in the foreground, with Arunachala rising behind. The photos were taken over a 30 minute period. Sometimes I used a flash, mostly just available light. The flash photos are redder. The camera is one of the modern electronic cameras, and sets itself for exposure, etc., so what is here is largely a product of its exposure system.
Next photo uses flash.

Thank you so much for this particular set of photos. I has allowed me to celebrate the Summer Solstice in a way I did not expect, and I am deeply grateful.
